Sheriff’s Office to Discontinue Daily Media Newsline

The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office will be discontinuing its daily media newsline effective Monday, July 23rd.  Our agency continues to seek ways to reduce redundant or burdening processes with the high workload demands placed on our deputies on a daily basis.  One such area identified is the newsline, which requires additional paperwork and summaries completed by our deputies on specific types of cases for media purposes.

Our office will continue to release information on social media, and via press releases.  Media members may also direct additional questions and inquires on incidents to one of our designated Public Information Officers. Sheriff Robert Snaza stated, “We have to look at ways to be efficient with the limited resources we have, while facing the increased demands for law enforcement services.  Despite these increased demands, our Patrol Division continues to operate at 1985 staffing levels, and this necessitates reviewing certain services provided by our office as we move forward.  The newsline is one area we can eliminate additional work for our deputies, while striving to still provide quality law enforcement service to the people of Lewis County who call for our help.”
