Des Moines man missing near Blue Creek Boat Launch

Deputies, along with search and rescue personnel, are searching the area of Blue Creek Boat Launch for a missing Des Moines man.  Prathana Nammavong, a 43 year old male from Des Moines, last contacted Friday morning when he communicated to friends via cellphone.  His vehicle was located in the parking lot at the boat launch by two friends who came to fish with him on Saturday morning.  The friends also located a chair and fishing poles belonging to Mr. Nammavong approximately a quarter of a mile down the Cowlitz River, near the confluence of Blue Creek with the Cowlitz River.  The friends searched the area for approximately five hours prior to contacting law enforcement at 1315 hours on Saturday.

It is common for Mr. Nammavong to fish the Cowlitz River near Blue Creek on the weekends, starting on Friday, and concluding on Sunday.  Attempts to locate Mr. Nammavong through the use of watercraft and K-9 were unsuccessful during the weekend.  Anyone with any information, or having had contact with Mr. Nammavong this weekend, should contact the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office at (360) 748-9286, or Lewis County Communications at (360) 740-1105.
