Morton kicks off 2026 Repair & Sustainability Fairs

Saturday, March 14, 2026 - 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Repair & Sustainability Fair: East End Edition: The WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter (MRC) volunteers are partnering with the Morton Senior Center, the Lewis County Solid Waste Utility and community volunteers to host the first Repair & Sustainability Fair in 2026. This event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. March 14 at the Morton Senior Center, 103 Westlake Ave., Morton, WA 98356.

If you have something around your home that needs to be fixed, don't throw it out and bury it in the landfill forever. Bring it to this event. Volunteers will be on hand to do their best to make the repairs and teach you how to do it in the process. Some community members will also be on-site offering demonstrations, so you can learn and improve your knowledge as a do-it-yourselfer.

LeMay Mobile Shredding will have its shredding truck in the parking lot of the senior center from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents can bring in sensitive documents they would like to have shredded. The shredded paper will be taken to a paper recycling facility.

Here are some examples of items you can bring to the event:

Bikes; air mattresses; lawn mowers; electric items, such as lamps and fans; clothing, curtains, and other textiles in need of minor repairs; tools that need sharpening; furniture

Repairs will be on a first-come, first-served basis. The fixer volunteers will try their best to help you repair the item, or give you recommendations on next steps, but there are no guarantees.

There will also be a Stuff Swap area of gently used items (feel free to bring something to share or shop for something you might need), information booths, kids crafts and hourly door prizes.

Please click here for a list of FAQs about Repair & Sustainability Fairs. We are also looking for volunteers to help repair items and lend a hand the day of the event.

Additional Repair & Sustainability Fairs will be held at Outfitters (formerly SunBirds), 1757 N. National Ave., Chehalis, WA 98532, tentatively in the old Veggies building, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 9, and on Oct. 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds, 1909 S. Gold St., Centralia, WA 98531.

These events are funded in part by a Local Solid Waste Financial Assistance grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology.
