Landfill closure committee meets to review proposed 2027 budget

Monday, November 2, 2026 - 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

After the Centralia Landfill was declared a Superfund site in 1989, the county and the cities within its borders entered into an interlocal agreement creating the Centralia Landfill Closure Group (CLCG) in 1992 (updated in 2017) to provide for the remediation of the landfill site to comply with federal and state statutes as a required by judicial Consent Decree. The Lewis County is now the operating agent of the CLCG. The CLCG meets annually to review the next year's proposed budget for landfill closure work. The CLCG will meet at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 2 to review the proposed 2027 landfill budget in the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners Hearing Room. Here is a link to the CLCG Nov. 2, 2026, agenda and Zoom link.
