Pe Ell Community Recycle Event

Saturday, September 25, 2021 - 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A Community Recycle Event will offer Lewis County residents an opportunity to recycle several materials, shred sensitive documents, and offer proper disposal for others, on Sept. 25 at Pe Ell Town Hall, 111 Main St.

Recycling opportunities will be available for the following commodities: televisions, computers, Styrofoam, and yard debris, and household hazardous waste collection will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the event, which is being sponsored by the Lewis County Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Utility, the state Department of Ecology, and E-Cycle Washington. Sensitive document shredding will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Participants should be prepared to provide proof of residency as the event is limited to Lewis County residential customers only.

The event is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Certain recycling opportunities may end early, if containers fill up. No garbage or other materials will be accepted.

Here are the details for each part of the program:

E-Cycle Collection:

Televisions, computer monitors and CPUs will be recycled. Each household is limited to 2 items.

Household Hazardous Waste Collection:

Drop off unwanted household paints, pesticides and other chemicals for free so they can be recycled, or disposed of, properly. Plan to leave the container at the event. Workers will not be able to accept material unless customers can leave the container and its contents at the event.

Limits:

  • 10 CFL lights
  • 5 gallons motor oil
  • 5 gallons antifreeze
  • 15 gallons oil-based paint
  • 5 gallons cooking oil
  • No containers larger than 5 gallons

Sensitive Document Shredding:

Customers may bring in up to 3 grocery bags of sensitive documents they would like to have shredded for free. The shredded paper will be taken to a paper recycling facility to be made into new paper.

Styrofoam Recycling:

Block Styrofoam and food service Styrofoam accepted. All material must be clean, and free of tape and labels. Please put each type of Styrofoam in its own clear bag for drop-off.

Yard Waste Collection: Residents may drop off grass clippings, leaves, and chippable yard debris for composting. All material must be emptied out of plastic bags.

A Department of Ecology grant is providing partial funding to pay for the community recycling events. Anyone with questions may call 740-1451 or email swu@lewiscountywa.gov.
