County seeks volunteers for Planning Commission

The Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) is looking for volunteers interested in serving on the Lewis County Planning Commission.

The Lewis County Planning Commission assists Lewis County’s Community Development department in carrying out its duties, including helping prepare and execute the Comprehensive Plan and helping adopt development regulations. The Planning Commission – which is made up of seven members who each serve four-year terms – meets twice a month (6 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month). A Zoom option is available for the group’s meetings.

The Planning Commission has two vacancies, one in Commissioner District 1 and the other in Commissioner District 2:

  • A map of District 1 – which includes portions of Chehalis and Centralia as well as nearby unincorporated communities such as Fords Prairie and Adna – can be found on the county’s website at https://tinyurl.com/y6szu99r.
  • A map of District 2 – which includes much of the county west of Interstate 5, including portions of Winlock, Napavine and Pe Ell – can be found on the county’s website at https://tinyurl.com/bdcacfxy.

The deadline to apply for the Planning Commission vacancies is 3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 18. Appointees will begin their terms in January.

Interested individuals are encouraged to submit an application and a letter of interest via email at mindy.brooks@lewiscountywa.gov (include Planning Commission in the subject line) or by mail or in person at Community Development at 125 N.W. Chehalis Ave., Chehalis, WA 98532.
