Commissioners seek volunteer for Civil Service Commission

The Lewis County Commissioners are looking to fill a vacancy on the Civil Service Commission.

The Civil Service Commission performs multiple duties, including the following:

  • Attend monthly meeting.
  • Assist, as needed, in determining the annual budget.
  • Volunteer, as needed, to attend testing and other opportunities that may arise, representing the Civil Service Commission.
  • Maintain and approve Civil Service rules in compliance with state law.
  • Provide for, formulate and hold competitive tests to determine the relative qualifications of persons who seek employment and establish eligibility lists.
  • Hear and determine appeals or complaints regarding Civil Service examinations and certain other employment actions.

The commission is required to meet at least monthly. Meetings are held at 11:30 a.m. the second Wednesday of each month at the Lewis County Sheriff's Office Training Room at 345 W. Main Street in Chehalis.

Members are appointed by the Lewis County Board of Commissioners, and must be citizens of the United States who are registered to vote. Members must have been a Lewis County resident for at least the last two years prior to being appointed to the Civil Service Commission.

The individual selected for this vacancy will complete the remainder of an unexpired term that runs through Dec. 31, 2026.
