Commissioners seek applicants for Winlock City Council
The Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) is seeking a volunteer to serve on Winlock City Council.
The City Council is the legislative branch of Winlock’s government. It includes five elected officials responsible for adopting ordinances, budgets and resolutions as well as establishing policies. The city also has a mayor, who serves as the city’s chief administrative officer. The City Council meets at 6 p.m. the second and fourth Monday of each month at City Hall at 323 NE First Street in Winlock.
Individuals who live within Winlock’s city limits and are interested in volunteering for the at-large City Council position are encouraged to submit an application in one of the following ways:
- In person at the Lewis County Commissioners’ Office, Room 210 of the Historic Courthouse at 351 N.W. North Street in Chehalis.
- By mail at 351 N.W. North St., Room 210, Chehalis, WA 98532.
- Via email at committees@lewiscountywa.gov (include “Winlock” in the subject line).

The BOCC will appoint an individual to Position 4 on Winlock City Council as outlined in RCW 42.12.070. The appointment will continue through the next general election and until a successor is elected and qualified.
To qualify for the position, an individual must meet the following requirements:
- Residency: Must live within the city limits for at least one year before the appointment.
- Voter registration: Must be registered to vote within Winlock city limits.
- Legal standing: Must not be currently incarcerated for a felony.
- Conflict of interest: Cannot hold any other public office or employment within the same city government, with few exceptions (such as volunteer fire/EMS).
