Diversion
Diversion is an option to deal with a first or a minor offense a youth has committed where they wish to take responsibility for their action and make amends. They do not have to go to court or go before a judge. A meeting would be set up with a probation officer to provide an opportunity for youth to sign a diversion agreement. The diversion agreement can require the juvenile to complete community service, counseling, classes, and/or restitution to name a few. In partnership with the Washington State Attorney General's Office, this course is provided for commissioners and board members to help meet an important training requirement of the Open Government Trainings Act. Reserve Deputy Coroner Program
The office has Reserve Deputy Coroner Academy which is a volunteer, non-paid position. The training consists of classroom, office responsibilities, ride along with law enforcement, observing dispatch and assisting Deputy Coroners on calls and in office.Reserve Deputy Coroners ride along with Deputy Coroners to scenes and assist with investigations under the supervision of the Deputy Coroner. Reserves gradually perform more complex roles during the investigations.The Reserve Deputy Coroner program does not guarantee paid employment but when time comes to hire paid Deputy Coroners we naturally look at the reserve staff first.At this time there is no plan to start a …

Tools, Treasures & Treats!
Plan to attend Tools, Treasures & Treats, the Master Recycler Composters of Lewis County's first tool and bake sale to raise money to support the new MRC Tool Bucket Library. The two-day event will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 10 and 11 at the Floral Park Sustainability Park, 103 E. Floral St., Centralia. Donated tools will be for sale as well as items baked by local volunteers. On Oct. 11, a cider press event will take place.
