Weed Identification The most common question we get: "What's this weed?"We love this question, but do ask that you provide us with a good, representative sample, or even a series of photographs of the weed you are concerned about. Samples that include flowers or fruit are often essential for positive identification. Photos should include both close-up, detailed and high-resolution pictures of the stem, nodes, flowers or fruits, as well as pictures taken further back to see the overall shape and size of the plant. Class A Priorities
Class A noxious weeds are LCNWCB's highest priority for early detection and rapid eradication. The legal requirement for Class A weed control is total eradication of all plant parts. These weeds are either absent in Lewis county or are here with very limited distribution. The only class A species that is currently known to be present in Lewis County is a single infestation of Milk Thistle, which was found in a common dumping area of Centralia. Historically, there have been records of Giant Hogweed in Lewis County, but these, to the best of our knowledge, have been eradicated.The Class A's …

Sanitary Control Area Covenants
INTRODUCTIONLewis County Code LCC8.55 includes requirements to protect public drinking water sources. The regulations require that wells be surrounded by an area of sanitary control. The Sanitary Control Area is the area in which activities that could contaminate the drinking water source are not allowed. Lewis County requires similar protection for two-party water supplies and properties being subdivided.According to state regulations and Lewis County Policy, a purveyor (the person owning or operating a water system) must provide an area of sanitary control for a radius of 100 feet for wells and 200 feet for shallow wells.. Aquatic weeds can be emerged, submerged or floating. An emerging plant is rooted underwater and has a structure emerging beyond the surface of the water (often on a stem, for flowers to be pollinated). Passport Applications
The Lewis County Clerk's Office is authorized by the U.S. Department of State to accept passport applications. Passport applications may be submitted, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday.We will attempt to process passport applications for everyone that comes into the office during the hours listed above, but the Clerk's statutory duties take precedence.
