The Lewis County Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Plan, a document required by Washington State law, RCW 70A.205.040. The law mandates each county prepare a comprehensive solid waste management plan, and update it periodically, is nearing its current update phase. With collaboration from the Lewis County Solid Waste Advisory Committee -- an advisory group to the Lewis County Commissioners, each city within Lewis County, and a consulting team from Herrera Environmental, the Lewis County Solid Waste Utility has completed a draft update of the Lewis County Solid and Hazardous Waste Management Plan. Do you pick up dead animals? Yes, but only if it is on the county right-of-way (road or ditch); not if it is on private property. Why can’t you just drain this swampy area so the road won’t get flooded? We have strict rules imposed on us by other departments such as Washington State Fish and Wildlife Department, Department of Ecology, and other State/Federal agencies.
