The Auditor’s Office consists of four departments,Financial ServicesDocument RecordingVehicle LicensingElectionsThe Auditor is responsible for examining all county financial transactions to ensure adequate coverage and proper reporting of expenditures for county funds. As county recorder, the Auditor is responsible for recording and preserving in perpetuity land ownership documents, surveys, plats, land corner records, state and federal tax liens, uniform commercial codes and other miscellaneous ordinances and legal records. Permit Fees Increasing effective January 1, 2025On November 12, the Lewis County Board of County Commissioners approved increases to certification and permit application fees to help balance budgets for the departments of Community Development, Public Works and Public Health & Social Services.The fee increases will go into effect on January 1, 2025. Lewis County Technical Rescue Team In 2014, partnerships were made to form the Lewis County Technical Rescue Team. Case records are records that relate to in-court proceedings, including case files, dockets, calendars, and the like. To view or request a copies of documents filed in a specific case or obtain a CD recording of hearings, the Court Records Request form will need to be filled out and submitted to the court. Copies are $0.25 per page, $5.00 per certified document or $20 per CD recording of hearings.
