Comprehensive Plan Periodic Update

Beginning July 2023, Lewis County and all cities in the county are required by the Washington State Growth Management Act to update their comprehensive plans. Lewis County is coordinating this effort through the Planned Growth Committee. Updates will include changes to the zoning map and development regulations. The updates must be completed by June 2025. You can review the current Lewis County Comprehensive Plan online.

Get Involved

The Comprehensive Plan sets goals and policies that impact all of Lewis County. The plan includes goals for housing, transportation, economic development, services (e.g., fire districts), land use and zoning, agriculture and forestry, recreation and the environment. The “periodic update” is a time to update the goals and policies and staff need input from the community. Lewis County Community Development staff will provide opportunities throughout the county and online to provide input into the project. Planned Growth Committee

The Planned Growth Committee (PGC) is made up of the Mayor, or their designee, from each city in Lewis County and the Chair of the Board of County Commissioners. The PGC makes recommendations on population and housing allocations to the Lewis County Planning Commission before the Board of County Commissioners adopts the final numbers.

The public is invited to attend the PGC meetings, which are on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 1:00pm. Please the see the Community Development Calendar for more information. There is a comment period at the beginning of each meeting where the public may address the PGC. Each person will be given three (3) minutes.

Information from past PGC meetings, including presentations and meeting notes, are also found on the Community Development Calendar, by clicking on the date of the meeting. For more information please contact Mindy Brooks at mindy.brooks@lewiscountywa.gov or 360-740-2610.
