Composting Education Workshops
The WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter (MRC) Volunteers will offer a series of composting workshops today at Salkum Library, 2480 US Hwy 12. Basic Composting will take place from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Worm Composting will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and Know Your Soils will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The general public is invited to attend any one of the workshops, or all of them. MIssion Statement The Lewis County Sheriff's Office maintains a group of specially trained and equipped deputies that are able to operate in a variety of tactical environments. SRT exists to minimize danger to the public and other law enforcement officers by responding to situations which exceed the capabilities and/or resources of a standard law enforcement response. The team is supervised by Captain Rick VanWyck. Goal To provide a tactical response team capable of rapid deployment, upon request, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. New rates go into effect at Lewis County transfer stations
The Lewis County Solid Waste Disposal District No. 1 approved increases to certain fees following a March 25, 2024, public hearing. The new fees for Lewis County transfer stations in Centralia and Morton will go into effect July 1, 2024.*$120/ton with a minimum fee set at $20 for 340 pounds or less (to include a 3.6 percent refuse tax) for municipal solid waste*$140/ton with a minimum fee set at $35 for 500 pounds or less (to include a 3.6 percent refuse tax for bulky waste*$100/ton with a minimum fee set at $15 for 300 pounds or less for grass clippings, …
