Washington State Noxious Weed Lists Every year, the Washington State Weed Board adopts a noxious weed list, which goes into effect on the first of January. In the following months, meaning the early months of each year, the Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board adopts its own, county-level, weed list. This list includes a number of Class A and B-Designate noxious weeds that are received by the county as orders from the state, and are required for control. Natural Resource protection from noxious weeds supported by a Special Assessment The Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board and the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) are proposing a special assessment to support the activities of the weed control program that protects the county’s natural resources and to assist landowners with their weed management concerns. By State Law, the Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board is mandated to limit the presence and spread of noxious weeds that cause economic loss to agriculture systems, harm natural resources or adversely affect human and livestock health. Noxious Weed List
Every year, the Washington State Weed Board adopts a noxious weed list, which goes into effect on the first of January. In the following months, the Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board adopts its own, county-level, weed list. This list includes a number of Class A and B-Designate noxious weeds that are essentially orders from the state weed board to the county weed board, and are required for either total eradication or to have their seed production stopped within the county whenever possible. Additions to 2013 Weed List
The Washington State Noxious Weed Board adopted the 2013 State Noxious Weed List at their November 7, 2012 meeting. The 2013 list includes a number of changes from 2012, including a few new species. All of the changes are detailed on the “What’s New” page of the Washington State Noxious Weed Board website http://www.nwcb.wa.gov/. Some of the new weed additions include: French broom, Genista monspessulana, as a Class A noxious weed. French broom is an invasive shrub with green, ridged stems, small, three-parted leaves covered in fine hairs, and bright yellow, fragrant flowers. Currently listed as a noxious weed in …

Chehalis Weed Management Area Group Meeting
Attend the upcoming CWMA meeting and gain some free Pesticide Continuing Education Credits!The first half of this meeting will be for credits. We will be hearing a presentation on the state monitor list from our state Weed Control Board Outreach and Education Specialist, Anne Schuster followed by an informational presentation from the WSU Integrated Weed Control Project director, Jennifer Andreas, on bio-controls.
