The Lewis County Solid Waste Advisory Committee meeting for 1 p.m. April 8 has been canceled.The Lewis County Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) meets at 1:00 p.m. the second Wednesday of every other month in the new Lewis County Public Works Building, 57 W. Maintenance & Operations
Lewis County Maintenance & Operations is comprised of two separate divisions; Fleet Services and Road Maintenance. The Fleet Services Division is responsible for purchasing, liquidating, and mechanically maintaining the entire fleet of rolling stock and off road equipment. Currently, Fleet Services maintains and services vehicles at two separate locations. The Road Maintenance Division is responsible for providing cost effective, safe travel over the 1,053 miles of county roadway in Lewis County. The Construction and Special Programs Section is responsible for the following: Repair stream bank scour and erosion at bridges. Obtain regulatory agencies’ permits. Apply hydraulic techniques to stabilize and restore stream channels. Repair failed roadway prisms due to slides, sink holes, and waterway erosion. Coordinate repairs to river revetments by contractors and the US Army Corps of Engineers. Provide assistance as the Lewis County R.I.D. (Road Improvement District) Coordinator.
