HOME IMPROVEMENT EXEMPTION: Physical improvement to a detached single family dwelling may be exempt from taxation for the three assessment years subsequent to the completion of the improvement, up to 30% of the value of the original structure; the home improvement exemption may be claimed only once in a five year period. Normal maintenance work does not qualify for this exemption. Notice must be filed prior to completion of the improvement being made on forms furnished by the Assessor. "Which list is which?" Every year, the Washington State Weed Board adopts a noxious weed list, which goes into effect on the first of January. In the following months, meaning the early months of each year, the Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board adopts its own, county-level, weed list. This list includes a number of Class A and B-Designate noxious weeds that are received by the county as orders from the state, and are required for control.
