Limits on Food and Retail Service Uses in LAMIRDs
Effective on June 9, 2022 Lewis County will implement new state rules that limit the size of food and retail service uses in Type I Limited Areas of More Intense Rural Development (LAMIRDs). During the 2022 Washington State Legislative Session, Senate Bill 5275 revised RCW 36.70A.070(5)(d)(i)(C) related to LAMIRDs. Aquatic Plant Management & Herbicide Permits – An Overview of WSDA & Ecology's Permit Requirements
Coverage under Ecology’s Aquatic Plant and Algae Management general permit is usually required for chemical treatments to control aquatic noxious weeds, native nuisance aquatic plants, algae and phosphorus. Several changes were made to this permit when it was updated in April 2021. This session will provide an overview of the permit, when coverage is needed or not, the application process, planning on a realistic timeline to get coverage, and monitoring and reporting requirements. Other topics will include related permits from the WSDA, such as the Noxious Weed Control permit, a demonstration of accessing SAW and applying for permit coverage, and details about the Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board and its programs.

The event will take place at the South County Regional Park, 212 Ray Road, Toledo, WA 98591, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., unless the containers fill up before 2 p.m.Household Hazardous Waste Event: Residential customers may drop off unwanted or left-over household cleaners, lawn, garden, pool chemicals, other household chemicals. Please be prepared to leave your containers at the event. Workers don't have a place to empty them, and return them. Cart tag being placed on a recycling bin in a curbside recycling project set to begin in Lewis County Apr. 17.
