Packwood Subarea Plan

A subarea plan is a road map that guides how a specific geography, like Packwood, will grow and develop over the next 20 years. The plan states a vision, goals, and policies for the area. The plan gets adopted as part of the Lewis County Comprehensive Plan and is used to determine updates to zoning maps and development regulations, as well as capital facilities plans for infrastructure like sewer or water. The Packwood Subarea Plan is being done in two phases: Phase 1 was completed in January 2024 by adoption of the goals, policies and future land use map; Phase 2 is underway and will be completed by fall 2025. The Packwood Subarea Plan, linked below, will be implemented by new zoning designations and development regulations. These are being drafted by a Community Advisory Committee, made up of residents, business owners and other people in Packwood and with the guidance of staff. The zoning and development regulations will be available for public review between February and July. As new information becomes available it will be added to the list of materials below. The Packwood Subarea Plan was adopted in January 2024. The plan is a vision, goals and policies to guide and manage growth over the next 20 years. Implementation of the plan begins with changes to the zoning designations and development regulations that apply within the subarea. Over the spring and summer, a 20-member Community Advisory Committee will collaborate with staff from Lewis County Community Development to draft the new requirements. In the fall, the public will be invited to review and comment on the draft.
