1. School

    The Chehalis School District operates a full-time, in-house program for youth. The program is geared to help them stay on track with a key focus on the youth/student's need.All detained youth are required to attend school Monday through Friday and can receive credits for completed classes while in custody.We provide school year round with the acceptation of a three-week summer break in August.Youth that have dropped out of school or are in alternative programs have the chance to work towards their GED or high school equivalence while in custody.

  2. Spiritual Counseling

    Youth have opportunities throughout the week to do group counseling and/or individualized counseling. Services provided by:Young Life who provides services to connect youth to Christ while in custody and out of custody such as, but not limited to team building exercises, bible study, one-on-one counseling.Christ for Life and Prisons for Christ who provide services such as, but not limited to bible study, seminary, in custody concerts, and one-on-one counseling to those in custody.These services are available throughout the week to any in-custody youth who would like to participate.

  4. Medical/Prescription Needs

    While in custody, services are available to address medical needs. Juvenile Detention is under contract with an on-call physician through Northwest Pediatrics.     Ailanthus altissima Tree of Heaven - A deciduous tree growing up to 60 feet tall. Plant parts may be identified by a distinctive peanut butter/popcorn smell.Leaves: Leaves are compound and alternate, and each leaf has anywhere from 10-27 leaflets usually. Leaflets are mostly smooth-edged, except for a few rounded teeth and a visibly large gland on the underside, towards the base of the leaf.Flowers: Flowers bloom from May-July.     Chondrilla juncea Rush Skeletonweed - A perennial that grows 1-5 feet tall. It has a long slender taproot that can grow 7 feet in length.Leaves: Basal leaves are lobed and slightly curved towards the leaf base. The stems have very few leaves that are smaller and have smooth edges.Flowers: Flowers bloom from July-September. Flowers consist of many yellow ray flowers and are either single or clustered.   8. DOL Revocation and Reinstatement

    The Juvenile Court revokes a Juvenile’s driving privilege if the court finds that the juvenile has committed any of the following offenses: A felony in the commission of which a motor vehicle was usedThe unlawful possession of a firearm in a motor vehicleThe second or subsequent offense while armed with a firearmThe second or subsequent unlawful possession of a firearm 2ndThe second or subsequent offense in violation of RCW chapter 66.44, 69.41, 69.50, or 69.52For information regarding how to have your driving privileges reinstated, please go to www.dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/minor.html

  9. Deferred Disposition

    Under the deferred disposition sentencing option, youth are on supervision for 12 months and have several requirements including restitution, community service, compliance with curfew and attending school. Specific rules will also apply based on the individual youth. If the youth does not commit another crime during the 12 month probation period, then the charge is dismissed and cleared from their criminal history. Excluded from this program include youth who: Have committed a sex offense Have committed a violent offense Have a criminal history that includes a felony Have had a previous Deferred Disposition Has had two or more adjudications

  10. Open Public Meeting Act Training

    In partnership with the Washington State Attorney General's Office, this course is provided for commissioners and board members to help meet an important training requirement of the Open Government Trainings Act.
