    Lewis County Juvenile Court provides a variety of services and evidence based programs for individuals and families. These interventions all have the goal of ending delinquency for each individual youth.   3. Deferred Disposition

    Under the deferred disposition sentencing option, youth are on supervision for 12 months and have several requirements including restitution, community service, compliance with curfew and attending school. Specific rules will also apply based on the individual youth. If the youth does not commit another crime during the 12 month probation period, then the charge is dismissed and cleared from their criminal history. Excluded from this program include youth who: Have committed a sex offense Have committed a violent offense Have a criminal history that includes a felony Have had a previous Deferred Disposition Has had two or more adjudications

  4. Basic Composting Class

    WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter volunteers are hosting a Basic Home Composting Workshop at Centralia College East in Morton as part of the Repair & Sustainability Fair at 11 a.m. on March 22. Learn how to convert organic materials from your yard, garden, and kitchen into nutrient rich compost to improve your soil, promote healthy plants, and reduce pesky pests! Participants who are interested can enter their names into a drawing for a free compost bin. This event is free to the public. Support for this workshop is provided in part by the Washington State Department of Ecology.

  5. School

    The Chehalis School District operates a full-time, in-house program for youth. The program is geared to help them stay on track with a key focus on the youth/student's need.All detained youth are required to attend school Monday through Friday and can receive credits for completed classes while in custody.We provide school year round with the acceptation of a three-week summer break in August.Youth that have dropped out of school or are in alternative programs have the chance to work towards their GED or high school equivalence while in custody.

  6. Diversion

    Diversion is an option to deal with a first or a minor offense a youth has committed where they wish to take responsibility for their action and make amends. They do not have to go to court or go before a judge. A meeting would be set up with a probation officer to provide an opportunity for youth to sign a diversion agreement. The diversion agreement can require the juvenile to complete community service, counseling, classes, and/or restitution to name a few.
