    The office has Reserve Deputy Coroner Academy which is a volunteer, non-paid position. The training consists of classroom, office responsibilities, ride along with law enforcement, observing dispatch and assisting Deputy Coroners on calls and in office.Reserve Deputy Coroners ride along with Deputy Coroners to scenes and assist with investigations under the supervision of the Deputy Coroner.     In some cases, blood will be sent to a toxicology laboratory for testing to determine what substances may be in the decedent's system and what those levels are.This testing can take 4-6 weeks to come back at which point the results are sent to the assigned Forensic Pathologist who will use the results to make the final determination of cause and manner of the death.     Residents may bring up to 5 bags or boxes or sensitive documents they would like to have shredded. This is a free community service. The shredded paper will be recycled at a paper recycling facility. The event will be offered from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. as part of the spring Repair & Sustainability Fair at the Chehalis Outfitters, 1757 N. National Ave., Chehalis, WA. Funded in part by a Local Solid Waste and Financial Assistance Grant from the Department of Ecology.
