The Lewis County Solid Waste Utility is a division of the Lewis County Department of Public Works. It operates transfer stations in Centralia and Morton, where all garbage collected in Lewis County gets dropped off and consolidated in containers to be hauled to a large landfill in Cowlitz County.LeMay is the hauler that collects curbside garbage as well as refuse from businesses, and brings it to one of the transfer stations. Internet expansion project in Winlock enters engineering phase
ToledoTel VP/COO Dale Merten presents an update on the Winlock broadband expansion project to Lewis County Commissioners April 25. CHEHALIS –The Lewis County Commissioners received an update from ToledoTel Vice President and COO Dale Merten Tuesday morning on their public-private partnership to expand high-speed internet services in and around Winlock.Using a $23.5 million competitive grant it secured from the Washington State Broadband Office, Lewis County launched efforts to extend internet service to more than 2,300 homes and businesses in the Winlock area. In addition to forming the district, the agreement established flow control, directing all solid waste generated in Lewis County to be disposed of at LCSWDD sites. The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) is a federal law that prohibits and seeks to eliminate sexual assaults and sexual misconduct in correctional institutions and community corrections settings.
