Do you pick up dead animals? Yes, but only if it is on the county right-of-way (road or ditch); not if it is on private property. Why can’t you just drain this swampy area so the road won’t get flooded? We have strict rules imposed on us by other departments such as Washington State Fish and Wildlife Department, Department of Ecology, and other State/Federal agencies. MRC Tool Bucket Library Open House
The Master Recycler Composters of Lewis County have officially opened the MRC Tool Bucket Library and the Floral Park Sustainability Park. They are inviting the public to an open house from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Aug. 22 at Floral Park Sustainability Project, 103 E. Floral St., Centralia, to learn about both community programs. The tool library is just like a book library, but it offers tools for checkout. Tire Recycling Events
When grant funding becomes available, Lewis County Code Enforcement and Lewis County Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Utility Division partner to hold tire recycling events.At these events, passenger and light truck tires will be accepted for free, and the tires can be on or off the rim. Please do not bring tires from businesses, semi-trucks or heavy equipment, as the county is unable to accept them.While there are no special recycling events currently scheduled, Lewis County Transfer Stations in Centralia and Morton do recycle many types of tires for a fee.For more information, please call the Solid Waste Utility …

We want your comments on the draft 2023 Lewis County Solid & Hazardous Waste Management Plan! This plan includes strategies to manage waste in the county over the next 20 years with more in-depth focus on the next six years. Lewis County Department of Public Works Solid Waste Utility has been working with the Lewis County Solid Waste Advisory Committee (SWAC) and the consulting firm Herrera Environmental to update the document. Chehalis Weed Management Area Group Meeting
Attend the upcoming CWMA meeting and gain some free Pesticide Continuing Education Credits!The first half of this meeting will be for credits. We will be hearing a presentation on the state monitor list from our state Weed Control Board Outreach and Education Specialist, Anne Schuster followed by an informational presentation from the WSU Integrated Weed Control Project director, Jennifer Andreas, on bio-controls. Earth Day Community Recycle Event in Packwood
The event will take place at Longmire Springs Brewing, 112 Norman Road, in Packwood, WA 98361.Satellite Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event: Residential customers may drop off their unwanted or left-over cleaners, lawn, garden, pool chemicals, and other household chemicals. Please be prepared to leave your containers at the event. Workers don't have a place to empty them, and return them to customers at satellite events. Limits for these events are 10 CFL lights, 5 gallons motor oil, 5 gallons antifreeze, 5 gallons cooking oil, and no containers larger than 5 gallons. No PaintCare items can be accepted at this event. …

WSDOT TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Closures of SR 508 no longer in effect
Full closures of SR 508 start Monday, Sept. 20 & extend thru Oct 1 MORTON – Drivers on SR 508 near Mosswood Road (milepost 29.8) will encounter full daytime closures of the highway the next few weeks for an ongoing erosion repair and prevention project. SR 508 will be fully closed between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20 through Friday, Oct 1 while crews use a large crane to set the major pieces of an erosion prevention structure in place. SR 508 must be closed during this work because the 180-ton crane takes up both …
