    The Lewis County Search and Rescue program is under the guidance and direction of the Lewis County Sheriff and his designees. The program is greatly dependent upon the efforts of many volunteers from the local communities and could not exist without their dedication.In 1959 the Mossyrock Search and Rescue Unit was developed to fill the need for an organized search and rescue unit. They were joined by Salkum in 1977 and Packwood in 1978.   10. Scrap Metal Recycling Event near Vader and Winlock today

    Lewis County residents may recycle scrap metal and household appliances for free at the old solid waste drop box at 1105 Winlock-Vader Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 7 at a special recycling event organized by the City of Vader and Lewis County Solid Waste Utility. Household appliances accepted in the recycling containers at the event include washers, dryers, hot water heaters, stoves/ranges, and dish washers.
