Lewis County Comprehensive Plan update public meeting
Lewis County is required by the state to updated the Comprehensive Plan starting in 2023 and finishing in 2025. The official kick-off will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 26 with a joint session between the Lewis County Commissioners and Planning Commission to establish the scope of work. The public is invited to attend the meeting at the historic Lewis County Courthouse in Chehalis.

Drop off leftover household chemicals today (10/16)
Hazo Hut at the Lewis County Central Transfer Station, 1411 S. Tower Ave., Centralia, is open today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to accept unwanted household chemicals, up to 10 burned out fluorescent lights and up to 5 gallons of used motor oil or antifreeze.

WSDA Pesticide Recertification Credit
WSU Lewis & Cowlitz County Extension will be hosting the Small Farm School and will be offering WSDA Pesticide Recertification Credit for two of the six programs. The program will be held at Centralia College on March 16, 2013 form 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Household Hazardous Waste Satellite Collection Fall Event: Pe Ell
Satellite Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event: Residential customers may drop off their unwanted or left-over oil-based paint, cleaners, lawn, garden, pool chemicals, and other household chemicals at Pe Ell Town Hall, 111 Main St., Pe Ell, WA. Please be prepared to leaves your containers at the event. Workers don't have a place to empty them, and return them to customers at satellite events. Limits for these events are 10 CFL lights, 5 gallons motor oil, 5 gallons antifreeze, 15 gallons oil-based paint, 5 gallons cooking oil, and no containers larger than 5 gallons. The Lewis County Search and Rescue program is under the guidance and direction of the Lewis County Sheriff and his designees. The program is greatly dependent upon the efforts of many volunteers from the local communities and could not exist without their dedication.In 1959 the Mossyrock Search and Rescue Unit was developed to fill the need for an organized search and rescue unit.
