Marriage license applications can be completed Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.The cost of a marriage license may vary from county to county. In Lewis County the fee is $172.00, payable by cash or check only. Credit and debit cards are not accepted. Marriage licenses must be applied for at least three (3) days prior to the marriage and are valid for 60 days anywhere within the state of Washington. As of December 2025, three of the Lewis County Coroner's Office staff members are nationally registered Medicolegal Death Investigators through the American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI). To become ABMDI registered, there are three criteria:Have 650 hours of death investigation experience and be employed in a Coroner/Medical Examiner OfficeDemonstrate competency in 300 tasks involving death investigationPass a four hour comprehensive examination with at least an 80%.The certification period is for five years during which continuing education (CE) hours are required to be re-certified. Transfer stations open today; administration office closed
Lewis County transfer stations in Centralia and Morton are open regular hours today, Nov. 28. The administration office at the transfer station in Centralia, however, is closed. It will return to regular hours on Monday, Dec. 1.
