Explore the County Budget using the OpenGov interactive transparency portal. Lewis County BudgetState law establishes the general requirements of Lewis County’s budget process. By law, many revenues must be spent in specific ways. This limits how the County can spend or cut costs to balance the budget.The Budget Department facilitates the development of the budget. All department heads and elected officials develop and submit their budget requests by early September. Aquatic Plant Management & Herbicide Permits – An Overview of WSDA & Ecology's Permit Requirements
Coverage under Ecology’s Aquatic Plant and Algae Management general permit is usually required for chemical treatments to control aquatic noxious weeds, native nuisance aquatic plants, algae and phosphorus. Several changes were made to this permit when it was updated in April 2021. This session will provide an overview of the permit, when coverage is needed or not, the application process, planning on a realistic timeline to get coverage, and monitoring and reporting requirements. Other topics will include related permits from the WSDA, such as the Noxious Weed Control permit, a demonstration of accessing SAW and applying for permit coverage, and details about the Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board and its programs.

Remains Identified
The human remains found near Mineral on Saturday, March 26, 2011, have been positively identified as Michael Lloyd Riemer. Riemer was originally reported as a missing person in December of 1985 to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department. Riemer was missing along with his significant other, Diana Robertson, also from Pierce County. Their two year old daughter was found wandering alone at a Spanaway K-Mart on the same day Riemer and Robertson went missing. Riemer was 36 years old at the time of his disappearance. Robertson was 21 at the time of her disappearance. Robertson’s remains were found February of 1986 …
