Surface Water / Utilities
The Surface Water / Utilities Section is responsible for the following functions: Reviewing applications of proposed developments for concerns impacting Public Works. Determining that stormwater submittals meet requirements of local stormwater regulations. Addressing drainage of public roads and right-of-ways. Providing hydrologic and hydraulic assistance within Public Works, and to other departments and programs. Obtaining agency environmental permits for Public Works projects. Evaluating adequate stormwater management measures to meet specific local, state, and federal requirements. Administering consultant contracts for specific water management and environmental projects. Applying for grants to fund surface water management and environmental project.

Spring Repair & Sustainability Fair
Repair & Sustainability Fair: The WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter (MRC) volunteers are teaming up with Centralia College, the Lewis County Solid Waste Utility and others in the community to offer the Repair & Sustainability Fair to the area residents. It will be located in the SWFT Centralia at Centralia College at 807 W. Pear Street.Volunteer fixers will be on site from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. A "Composting Basics" Workshop is scheduled for 11 a.m. It will teach how to get started in composting organic material, including yard waste and kitchen waste. Motor Oil Recycling
What types of oils can be recycled as used motor oil? Motor oil is only accepted for recycling at the Central Transfer Station in Centralia on days that the Hazo Hut is open to the public. The Real Estate Services Division is responsible for land management of properties, right-of-way, mapping, and geographic analysis in support of the Public Works Department and for the County overall.The Division manages the Public Works Department's assorted sets of historical maps, surveys, road way files, field notes, engineer tracings/drawings, and aerial photos.These are being indexed and scanned to preserve the integrity of the originals and to increase their availability. Litter Clean-up Programs
Adopt-A-Road Program The Lewis County Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Utility's Adopt-A-Road Program is now available for community groups or like-minded friends and neighbors to pick up litter along county roads. Organizations and individuals can submit an application to adopt a section of road to clean at least four times a year, or sign up for a one-time clean up of a community, neighborhood, or park.
