FIELD OPERATIONS BUREAU – CHIEF RICK VAN WYCK The Field Operations Bureau encompasses the Patrol Division for the office. PATROL DIVISION: The Patrol Division is under the direct supervision of a Captain and consists of four squads. A Sergeant leads each squad, and each squad is comprised of five deputies.Deputies are responsible for responding to emergencies, investigating crimes that have occurred, conducting traffic enforcement, investigating motor vehicle collisions, serving of civil papers, sex offender registration checks and various other duties.The unincorporated area of Lewis County is divided into two geographic areas for the purpose of patrols. Solid Waste Utility
Lewis County Solid Waste Utility operates solid waste transfer stations in Centralia and Morton for disposal, recycling, and yard waste drop off, and provides education and outreach regarding proper solid waste management, waste reduction, recycling, composting and hazardous waste.

Hazo Hut can accept used antifreeze from residents today
Lewis County residents can drop off a maximum of five gallons of used motor oil and up to 10 burned out fluorescent lights at Hazo Hut at the transfer station in Centralia, 1411 S. Tower Ave. Unwanted household chemicals, excluding paint and PaintCare items (Please visit PaintCare.org to learn more about PaintCare items and find out where to drop off PaintCare items locally), and up to five gallons of used antifreeze can also be dropped off. This time is reserved for residential customers only. Business customers must make an appointment by calling 360-740-1221.

Lewis County residents will have an opportunity to properly dispose of household hazardous waste and recycle several items for free at a special event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 10 at the Lewis County Road Shop, 111 Pleasant Valley Road, Winlock, WA 98596. They can bring in up to 10 fluorescent lights, 5 gallons of motor oil, 5 gallons of antifreeze, and 5 gallons of cooking oil per household. No containers larger than 5 gallons will be accepted. The LC Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, is a countywide plan that identifies risks and ways to minimize damage by natural and manmade disasters. The plan is a comprehensive resource document that serves many purposes such as enhancing public awareness, creating a decision tool for management, promoting compliance with Washington State and Federal program requirements, enhancing local policies for hazard mitigation capability, and providing inter-jurisdictional coordination.The federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 requires all local governments to create such a disaster plan in order to qualify for hazard mitigation funding.Lewis County tackled this planning effort on a region wide basis, and …
