Let’s keep Lewis County clean!The Lewis County Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Utility Adopt-A-Road Program is now available for for community groups or like-minded friends and neighbors to pick up litter along county roads. This program was approved by Lewis County Commissioners in mid-August, and is now ready to get Lewis County residents, businesses and community groups signed up to keep our road clean. Addition to County Weed List
A small tree called, Tree-of-Heaven, will be considered an addition to the Lewis County Noxious Weed List in 2012. Tree-of-Heaven, Ailanthus altissima has been planted in landscapes as a small to medium sized deciduous tree for homeowners. Its placement on the noxious weed list has come about because of its invasive root system and prolific producer of new suckers or shoots. The plant produces toxins that prevent the establishment of other plants and has plant sap that can be a skin irritant to humans. Plan to attend a WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter workshop to learn how to test your soil. By knowing your soil type and characteristics, you can make it better with compost. Lewis County interim County Manager Steve Wohld. CHEHALIS – The Lewis County Commissioners on Tuesday appointed Chief of Internal Services Steve Wohld as interim County Manager.
