Deputy Coroners
The Lewis County Coroner's Office employs Deputy Coroners who respond to locations where deaths have occurred in order to conduct medicolegal death investigations. Deputy Coroners are not law enforcement personnel but do work very closely in conducting investigations with all of the law enforcement agencies in the county. The Lewis County Coroner's Office currently has The Elected Coroner, Chief Deputy Coroner, one full-time Deputy Coroner, one part-time Deputy Coroner, and six on-call Deputy Coroners. National Adoption Day Celebration
Local Group Celebrates National Adoption Day On Friday, November 20, 2015, at the Lewis County Law and Justice Center in Chehalis, Lewis County Superior and Juvenile Court and the Division of Children and Family Services will celebrate the joys of adoption and encourage more people to give children permanent families through adoption. A reception will follow at the Law and Justice Center, 1st Floor, training room at 2:00 pm. Sheriff's Office Looking for Reserve Deputies
The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Centralia Police Department, will be tentatively hosting a Reserve Law Enforcement Academy from April 5th through September 3rd, 2016. This program, sponsored through the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission, certifies individuals to become reserve deputies and officers throughout Washington State. The Reserve Academy requires a minimum of 249.5 hours of course work, and is a condensed version of the 720 hour academy required by full-time law enforcement officers.
