Newaukum Bridge Opening February 18, 2011 at 4pm.
PRESS RELEASE Lewis County Public Works would like to announce that the Jackson Highway Bridge crossing the Newaukum River will be open to traffic on Friday, February 18, 2011, at 4 p.m. Future work will occur, with flagger-controlled, one-way traffic during working hours and unrestricted two-way traffic during non-working hours. The bridge replacement contract was awarded to Rognlin’s Incorporated (Aberdeen, WA) in the amount of $2,153,027. Differing site conditions encountered during excavation for the bridge approach work required modified design and modified approach work. Additional work to address these changes increased the contract amount to $2,387,000 (estimated total until completion …

Sheriff's Office Looking for Reserve Deputies
The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Centralia Police Department, will be tentatively hosting a Reserve Law Enforcement Academy from April 5th through September 3rd, 2016. This program, sponsored through the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission, certifies individuals to become reserve deputies and officers throughout Washington State. The Reserve Academy requires a minimum of 249.5 hours of course work, and is a condensed version of the 720 hour academy required by full-time law enforcement officers. Sheriff's Office Offers New Tool for Victims of Lost Property
The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office has developed a new tool that will, hopefully, aid in helping citizens claim their lost property. Citizens who have lost property in Lewis County can now go to the LCSO website to see if their property has been turned in. The website address is: http://lewiscountywa.gov/sheriff/found-property. Property Director Isabelle Williams said, “It is our goal to get property back to its rightful owner. We get a great deal of satisfaction and sense of accomplishment returning property to its owner – especially those treasured items that are irreplaceable and that they thought were lost forever." Lewis County solid waste sites closed for Thanksgiving Day
Lewis County transfer stations in Centralia and Morton are closed today in observance of the Thanksgiving Day holiday. They will resume regular hours on Friday, Nov. 25. The Solid Waste Utility Administration Office, however, is closed today and Friday, Nov. 25. It will be open on Monday, Nov. 28.
