If a small population of invasive Scotch broom inhabits a portion of your land, consider controlling it with the use of a Weed Wrench. Scotch broom is that evergreen shrub that will begin blooming with bright yellow flowers in the next few weeks. The plant is easily extracted with human power and a tool called a Weed Wrench that grips the base of the plant tightly and pulled from the soil, when the handle is levered over. Forest Threats
A new special report by the Oregon Forest Resources Institute emphasizes the important role of scientific forest management in helping protect Oregon’s forests from multiple threats, including fire, insects and disease. The Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board encourages you to take a look at the report and the video about the impact that invasive plant species have on our forests. Litter Clean-up Programs
Adopt-A-Road Program The Lewis County Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Utility's Adopt-A-Road Program is now available for community groups or like-minded friends and neighbors to pick up litter along county roads. Organizations and individuals can submit an application to adopt a section of road to clean at least four times a year, or sign up for a one-time clean up of a community, neighborhood, or park. Lewis County Community Litter Program The Lewis County Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Utility, operates a litter pick-up program that uses inmate labor from the Lewis County Jail.

New additions to Washington State Noxious Weed List
New additions to the 2016 Washington State Noxious Weed List The Washington State Noxious Weed Control Board at its Nov. 3, 2015 meeting in Wenatchee adopted changes to the 2016 weed list. The Lewis County Noxious Weed Control Board will consider and adopt changes to the County Weed List at their February 16, 2016 public hearing and meeting. The Lewis County Segregation/Mapping processes recorded deeds and other conveyance instruments for real property to verify recorded legal descriptions, create, segregate and combine tax parcels. The County Geographic Information System (GIS) database is updated and kept at a current status. The Department updates ownership on all real estate transfers. WSDOT TRAFFIC ADVISORY - Closures of SR 508 no longer in effect
Full closures of SR 508 start Monday, Sept. 20 & extend thru Oct 1 MORTON – Drivers on SR 508 near Mosswood Road (milepost 29.8) will encounter full daytime closures of the highway the next few weeks for an ongoing erosion repair and prevention project. SR 508 will be fully closed between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20 through Friday, Oct 1 while crews use a large crane to set the major pieces of an erosion prevention structure in place.
