Transfer Stations are open, but County business offices are closed
Lewis County business offices, including the Lewis County Solid Waste Utility Administration Office at the transfer station in Centralia, are closed today in observance of the Veterans Day holiday. The transfer stations in Centralia and Morton, however, are open today. Lewis County transfer stations in Centralia and Morton will be closed on the actual Veterans Day holiday, Saturday, Nov. 11.

Lewis County Transfer Stations in Centralia and Morton are closed in observance of the Labor Day Holiday today. The Administration Office in Centralia is also closed. Normal hours at all sites resume on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Lewis County transfer stations close for Memorial Day
Lewis County Transfer Stations in Centralia and Morton are closed today (Monday, June 26) for the Memorial Day Holiday. The Administration Office at the Centralia site is also closed. They will resume normal operations on Tuesday, May 27.

Holiday Closure for Christmas Day
Lewis County transfer stations in Centralia and Morton are closed on Christmas Day. They will resume their regular hours on Saturday, Dec. 26. Centralia is open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Morton is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Community Recycle Events, Repair & Sustainability Fair, Workshops
Lewis County is working with cities and communities to offer free recycling events and opportunities to properly dispose of certain materials. Please see the Schedule of Events for 2025 listed below.The events are offered to Lewis County residents only, and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If some recycling containers fill up on the day of the event, that particular recycling opportunity may be closed due to storage and space limitations. Transfer Stations Open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day
Lewis County transfer stations in Centralia and Morton will be open regular hours on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 17. Centralia is open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Morton is open 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Remember that both sites close their gates 15 minutes prior to facility closure. The Administration Office at the Centralia site will not be open on the MLK holiday.

Free Tansy Disposal Days Tansy ragwort is invasive and will establish itself readily in disturbed areas. It is toxic and can be lethal to livestock. The toxic properties remain when the plant is cut and dried in hay, where it is difficult for animals to avoid eating it. The toxins accumulate in an animal’s body, causing irreversible liver damage and poor health or death. Basic Compost Workshop in Morton
WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter volunteers are hosting a Basic Home Composting Workshop at Centralia College East in Morton as part of the Repair & Sustainability Fair. Learn how to convert organic materials from your yard, garden, and kitchen into nutrient rich compost to improve your soil, promote healthy plants, and reduce pesky pests! Participants who are interested can enter their names into a drawing for a free compost bin. This event is free to the public. Support for this workshop is provided in part by the Washington State Department of Ecology.
