Basic Composting Class
WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter volunteers are hosting a Basic Home Composting Workshop at Centralia College East in Morton as part of the Repair & Sustainability Fair at 11 a.m. on March 22. Learn how to convert organic materials from your yard, garden, and kitchen into nutrient rich compost to improve your soil, promote healthy plants, and reduce pesky pests! Participants who are interested can enter their names into a drawing for a free compost bin. This event is free to the public. Support for this workshop is provided in part by the Washington State Department of Ecology.

Spiritual Counseling
Youth have opportunities throughout the week to do group counseling and/or individualized counseling. Services provided by:Young Life who provides services to connect youth to Christ while in custody and out of custody such as, but not limited to team building exercises, bible study, one-on-one counseling.Christ for Life and Prisons for Christ who provide services such as, but not limited to bible study, seminary, in custody concerts, and one-on-one counseling to those in custody.These services are available throughout the week to any in-custody youth who would like to participate.

Radio Communications
Radio Service staff maintain and service a network of 22 communications sites throughout the county that provide first responder radio coverage.Additionally, they provide local trouble-shooting services (and limited technical assistance) to outside vendors to assist in identifying and making emergency repairs when equipment fails in the Communications Center.In 2019, they continued maintenance of mobile, portable and fixed base radio equipment for the county and agencies supported by contract.The Radio Services Administrator manages the Homeland Security equipment grants. This includes researching models, purchasing equipment, preparing/maintaining records, and includes installation of anything pertaining to the backbone communications system. Emergency Management is coordinating resources, and there is potential for the situation to escalate.Level 1: Full ActivationA major emergency or disaster is underway or imminent, possibly involving multiple jurisdictions. In the United States, a typical family of four throws away an estimated $3,000 in groceries each year. Americans throw away approximately 325 pounds of food per person each year. Organics is the largest category of materials thrown away in landfills in Washington state.
