    Lewis County residents may recycle scrap metal and household appliances for free at the old solid waste drop box at 1105 Winlock-Vader Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 7 at a special recycling event organized by the City of Vader and Lewis County Solid Waste Utility. Household appliances accepted in the recycling containers at the event include washers, dryers, hot water heaters, stoves/ranges, and dish washers.     Lewis County residents will have an opportunity to properly dispose of household hazardous waste and recycle several items for free at a special event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 25 at the Lewis County Road Shop, 111 Pleasant Valley Road, Winlock, WA 98596. Residents can bring in up to 15 fluorescent lights, 5 gallons of motor oil, 5 gallons of antifreeze, and 5 gallons of cooking oil per household. No containers larger than 5 gallons will be accepted.   8. Vader hosts 5th annual Chips for Trails Event

    The Annual Chips for Trails event will take place at McMurphy Park off Annonen Road in Vader in celebration of Earth Day from 10 am. to 3 p.m. April 25. The Vader Parks Board, volunteers and city staff will be collecting branches and brush for chipping during this time. The material will be chipped up and spread onto trails of the Vader park.
