Surface Water / Utilities
The Surface Water / Utilities Section is responsible for the following functions: Reviewing applications of proposed developments for concerns impacting Public Works. Determining that stormwater submittals meet requirements of local stormwater regulations. Addressing drainage of public roads and right-of-ways. Providing hydrologic and hydraulic assistance within Public Works, and to other departments and programs. Obtaining agency environmental permits for Public Works projects. Evaluating adequate stormwater management measures to meet specific local, state, and federal requirements. Administering consultant contracts for specific water management and environmental projects. Applying for grants to fund surface water management and environmental project.

Local Group Celebrates National Adoption Day On Friday, November 20, 2015, at the Lewis County Law and Justice Center in Chehalis, Lewis County Superior and Juvenile Court and the Division of Children and Family Services will celebrate the joys of adoption and encourage more people to give children permanent families through adoption. Mandatory Boating Safety Class
Mandatory Boating Safety Education Class Offered in Lewis County August 7, 2010 Mandatory Boating Safety Education became a reality for Washington Boaters starting January of 2008. Boaters under the age of 26 years old are now required to possess a valid boating safety card when operating a vessel with a motor of 15 horsepower or greater. English hawthorn noxious weed
English Hawthorn, Crataegus monogyna is one of the most recent additions to the Washington State Noxious Weed List. The small tree or large shrub was added as a Class C weed to the 2016 weed list. English hawthorn grows in full sun and is found in lowland areas of Western Washington. It may be common along fence lines, forest edges and open grass land. The small tree was added to the list because of its invasive character. In San Juan County, hawthorn has infested large areas of agricultural land and open grass lands.
