    Lewis County Transfer Stations in Centralia and Morton are closed today (Monday, May 25) for the Memorial Day Holiday. The Administration Office at the Centralia site is also closed. They will resume normal operations on Tuesday, May 26.

    Euphorbia oblongata Eggleaf Spurge - Upright perennial growing about 3 feet tall. Has a woody, branched taproot. Plant stems covered in fine white hairs.Leaves: Alternate and hairless leaves that are oblong and finely toothed. Prominent midvein is visible.Flowers: Flowers bloom from May-July. Clustered flowers with a few male flowers and one female flower.     Lamiastrum galeobdolon Yellow Archangel - Evergreen to semi evergreen plant that grows very quickly. It is mostly a trailing perennial, though it can grow upright if climbing other plants.Leaves: Opposite and oval shaped. Toothed and hairy typically with silver-gray markings.Flowers: Flowers bloom from April through June. Flowers are small, yellow, and two lipped. The upper lip is hooded, and the lower lip has orange/brown markings. Flowers grow in whorls.Habitat: Yellow Archangel can grow in shade or sunlight.   7. Survey

    Functions include but are not necessarily limited to:Survey - Responsible for all aspects of surveying for County roads and bridges.Maintain and update the County Control Network utilizing GlobalPositioning System (GPS) and conventional survey methods. Providesurvey support for all other County departments.Construction - Provide preliminary and construction surveying for all County road andbridge construction projects.   8. Design

    The Engineering Design Section develops roadway designs using local and state guidelines required for traffic volume, terrain, design speed, safety features, storm water runoff, and environmental concerns. Design production may be handled in-house or by contractors. Designs for new bridges are contracted to a structural engineer. Once the designs are complete, staff members help prepare contract specifications for open and competitive bidding by road and bridge construction companies. Inspection of contractors' construction operation are also handled by the staff from the Design, Construction, and Survey Sections.
