Community Chipping Event at McMurphy Park in Vader
The Annual Chips for Trails event will take place at McMurphy Park off Annonen Road in Vader in celebration of Earth Day from 10 am. to 3 p.m. April 27. The Vader Parks Board, volunteers and city staff will be collecting branches and brush for chipping during this time. The material will be chipped up and spread onto trails of the Vader park. During the event, Lewis County residents are permitted to drop off brush and branches to be chipped that are no larger than 5 inches in diameter. No trash, leaves, building materials or plastic bags will be accepted. …

Registration Deadline for Composting Education Workshops
The WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter (MRC) Volunteers will offer a series of composting workshops on May 20 at Salkum Library, 2480 US Hwy 12. Basic Composting will take place from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; Worm Composting will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and Know Your Soils will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. The general public is invited to attend any one of the workshops, or all of them. Lewis County Youth Mentorship Program holds back-to-school event Aug. 10
The Lewis County Youth Mentorship Program invites you, families and local youth to a back-to-school Community Resource Fair and school supply drive from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug 10. The events will be held inside the banquet rooms located near TransAlta Commons on the campus of Centralia College, 600 Centralia College Blvd.

Covid - Masking Strongly Encouraged 7/11/22
Counsel/Participants/Staff:As you may have heard on the news, Lewis County is one of several counties in Washington State considered high-risk for Covid-19. The CDC recommends people wear masks in indoor public spaces when the rating is listed as high. As a measure prior to suspending jury trials once again, the Lewis County Superior Court Judges are strongly encouraging masking in Superior Court effective Monday, July 11, 2022. Food access programs aim to benefit over 2,000 Lewis County residents
CHEHALIS - Lewis County residents eligible for the Washington State Department of Health special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) may now be able to stretch their food budget to buy more fruits, vegetables and cut herbs.Using a WIC QR code, participants may be eligible for fruit and vegetable benefits when shopping at any of the four farmers markets in Lewis County. In addition the state Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Market Match offers up to $25 of benefits at farmers markets.
