As county recorder, the Auditor is responsible for recording and preserving in perpetuity land ownership documents, surveys, plats, land corner records, state and federal tax liens, uniform commercial codes and other miscellaneous ordinances and legal records. Open Space Act
RCW 84.34Land owners who wish current use assessment for property tax purposes on lands eligible for classification under the Open Space program, must submit an application to the Lewis County Assessor's Office by December 31st. Applications taken in the calendar year prior to December 31st are inspected in the next year and either approved or denied. If the application is approved, it is taxed in the subsequent year. Lewis County Superior Court Judges are authorized by law to perform wedding ceremonies in the state of Washington. Wedding ceremonies are performed at the Lewis County Courthouse Monday through Friday at 5:00 p.m., and may also be performed at other locations and times, subject to the availability of the Judges. Do you pick up dead animals? Yes, but only if it is on the county right-of-way (road or ditch); not if it is on private property. Why can’t you just drain this swampy area so the road won’t get flooded? We have strict rules imposed on us by other departments such as Washington State Fish and Wildlife Department, Department of Ecology, and other State/Federal agencies. Sanitary Control Area Covenants
INTRODUCTIONLewis County Code LCC8.55 includes requirements to protect public drinking water sources. The regulations require that wells be surrounded by an area of sanitary control. The Sanitary Control Area is the area in which activities that could contaminate the drinking water source are not allowed.
