What to expect after you submit a request
Within five business days after the receipt of a request, the County Records Officer and/or representatives will do one or more of the following:
- Make requested records available for inspection or copying
- Acknowledge the receipt of the request and provide a reasonable estimate of when requested records will be available.
- Seek clarification of unclear requests.
- Deny the request and cite the legal exemption.
The day the request is received does not count as one of the five (5) days. Weekends and holidays observed by the agency are also excluded in the calculation. If the requester has not received a response from the agency within five (5) business days from the date of filing a public records request, the requester is encouraged to contact the public records officer immediately to ensure that the request was received by the agency.
From there, your request is sent to the appropriate department(s) for a search for records. After a search is conducted, you will be contacted by the Public Records Officer for arrangement of payment.
