May CERT Team Meeting
Thursday, May 16, 2024 - 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
We are moving our first CERT Team Meeting from June to Thursday May 16th at 6pm at the historic courthouse, 351 NW North Street, Chehalis.
Everyone West of Mossyrock should make an effort to be there. Everyone East of Mossyrock that can’t make it, we will have an East Lewis County CERT Team Meeting in June.
At the May 16th Meeting in Chehalis, we will be establishing our official(signed all the paperwork) Lewis County CERT Team:
After a thorough review, you will be Signing and submitting:
- A Code of Conduct
- Policy and Procedures
- Standard Operating Procedures
- Washington State Emergency Worker Card
- CERT Volunteer Application
After review and submittal of the requested documents you will be issued a CERT Team ID. (At the meeting you will be getting your picture taken, if you would prefer to email me a separate picture before the meeting please do so. It must be a jpg.)
We will go over the training plan for the year, requirements to sustain your CERT Team Position (super easy), What I expect from you, and the dream I have for CERT within Lewis County (starts with you).
We have a more in-depth and relevant class on the Incident Command System, explaining how you will be using it every time you step into a CERT position. (20-minutes)
We are going to require CERT Volunteers to complete their ICS Training 100,200,700,800. This can be achieved after signing up but will need to be done within 30 days of joining the team.
We need leaders.
If you are interested in becoming a Team leader or Section Chief, please come forward now or at the team meeting.
Did you know? When the Wildfire destroyed the town of Lahaina on Maui last year. It killed over 100 People and wiped clean over 2000 homes. 100,000 CERT volunteers answered the call for help. That’s right. 100,000 CERT volunteers from all over the country and world, came to the need of those that needed it most.
The Lewis County CERT Team will only be what you make it to be.
When we learn how to help our community, we will learn how to help our neighbors, then we will learn how to help our world. Sounds a little dramatic, but… If we are on top of our trainings, lead by example, and truly believe in our CERT program. We WILL make a difference, and we will be called upon to help those who need it most. Wither that be in our backyards, across our country, or on the other side of our world. We will stand ready.
Soo! Please do your best to make it to this meeting. If you cannot attend, No Stress, No Worries, please reach out to me directly and we can make the appropriate accommodations to get you all signed up. Martin.baglien@lewiscountywa.gov
