County seeks applicants for its new Short Term Rentals (STR) Advisory Group
The Lewis County Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) is seeking volunteers interested in serving on the newly established Short Term Rentals (STR) Advisory Group.The 11-member group will provide guidance as the county implements its new requirements for short-term rentals. Beginning Jan. 1, anyone with a short-term rental (also known as an Air BnB) in unincorporated Lewis County will be required to register the rental through the county. Owners / operators will have one calendar year to come into compliance. Tire Recycling Event in Packwood (10/14)
Lewis County residents may recycle up to 12 tires per household for free today at the Packwood Community Hall. Tires can be passenger or light truck tires, on or off the rim, or semi-truck tires off the rim. The event will not be able to accept any other type of tire. Customers should be prepared to show proof of Lewis County residency. They will also be expected to unload their own tires. An additional tire recycling event is scheduled for Oct. 26, 27 & 28 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily at the Southwest Washington Fairgrounds in Centralia. For …

Chips for Trails in Vader
The Third Annual Chips for Trails event will take place at McMurphy Park off Annonen Road in Vader in celebration of Earth Day. The Vader Parks Board, volunteers and city staff will be collecting branches and brush for chipping during this time. The material will be chipped up and spread onto trails of the Vader park. During the event, Lewis County residents are permitted to drop off brush and branches to be chipped that are no larger than 5 inches in diameter.
