  3. Community Chipping Event at McMurphy Park in Vader

    The Annual Chips for Trails event will take place at McMurphy Park off Annonen Road in Vader in celebration of Earth Day from 10 am. to 3 p.m. April 27. The Vader Parks Board, volunteers and city staff will be collecting branches and brush for chipping during this time. The material will be chipped up and spread onto trails of the Vader park. During the event, Lewis County residents are permitted to drop off brush and branches to be chipped that are no larger than 5 inches in diameter. No trash, leaves, building materials or plastic bags will be accepted. …

  4. Free Tire Recycling Event in Pe Ell

    The Town of Pe Ell will host a free tire recycling event on June 12 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot behind Town Hall. Access to the lot is just off Chehalis Avenue.The event offers free recycling of up to 15 tires per customer. The tires can be passenger vehicle or light truck tires, on or off the rim, or semi-truck tires off the rim. The event is for Lewis County residential customers only.     PRESS RELEASE - RIVER ROAD DOG ATTACK:Deputies are investigating a dog attack which occurred inside a residence in the 400 block of River Road in Chehalis on Wednesday afternoon. At around 2:30 p.m., aid personnel and deputies were dispatched to a dog bite of a 91-year-old female. When they arrived, they discovered the victim had been attacked by two of her own German Shepherds, resulting in major trauma to both of her lower arms.
