    A small tree called, Tree-of-Heaven, will be considered an addition to the Lewis County Noxious Weed List in 2012. Tree-of-Heaven, Ailanthus altissima has been planted in landscapes as a small to medium sized deciduous tree for homeowners. Its placement on the noxious weed list has come about because of its invasive root system and prolific producer of new suckers or shoots. The plant produces toxins that prevent the establishment of other plants and has plant sap that can be a skin irritant to humans.
