Residential hazardous waste accepted in Morton today
Lewis County residents can drop off unwanted household chemicals, up to five gallons of used motor oil, aerosol (spray cans), and up to 15 burned out fluorescent light bulbs at Hazo Hut at the East Lewis County Transfer Station, 6745 US Hwy 12, Morton, today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. These are the limits for each household each day that the Hazo Hut is open. This time is reserved for residential customers only. Business customers must make an appointment by calling 360-740-1221 or emailing swu@lewiscountywa.gov.

Home Composting: Making "Black Gold"
Composting is a little like baking a cake, and the WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter (MRC) Volunteers will teach you how to make compost or "black gold" in your own back yard! There are some basic science principles required to successfully create compost in the shortest possible time but the rest is art, allowing you to create a composting setup that works for you. Residents can bring in sensitive documents for shredding
The LeMay Mobile Shredding truck will be at the WSU Lewis County Master Recycler Composter (MRC) Volunteers' Christmas Tree Recycling Event in the parking lot before you enter the Lewis County transfer station in Centralia at 1411 S. Tower Ave. from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 3, 2026. Residential customers may bring up to 3 bags or boxes of sensitive documents they would like to have shredded. There is no charge for this service, but the MRC Volunteers are accepting donations to support their community education and outreach programs.
