  7. Public Health Water Lab Changes Sample Bottle Procedures

    The Lewis County Public Health & Social Services (PHSS) water lab has resumed operations, but must change its public access procedures due to the county buildings closure orders. Until further notice, requests for sample bottles must be made by calling 360-740-1222. No requests for sample bottles will be accepted in-person at the Health Department building in downtown Chehalis at this time. More

  8. Household Hazardous Collection Day in Morton

    Residents may drop of household hazardous waste for free from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the East Lewis County Transfer Station, 6745 U.S. Hwy 12, just east of Morton. Examples of household hazardous materials that can be dropped off are cleaners, lawn, garden, and pool chemicals. Businesses may not bring hazardous materials to the East Lewis County Transfer Station. For more information, please call 360-740-1221.

    The Lewis County Solid Waste Utility is a division of the Lewis County Department of Public Works. It operates transfer stations in Centralia and Morton, where all garbage collected in Lewis County gets dropped off and consolidated in containers to be hauled to a large landfill in Cowlitz County.LeMay is the hauler that collects curbside garbage as well as refuse from businesses, and brings it to one of the transfer stations.
