    A volunteer effort to learn and detect invasive plants is underway by the Pacific North West Invasive Plant Council. A training for citizens will take place Thursday June 29th from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Old Credit Union Building, 156 NW Chehalis Ave., Chehalis, WA. The training will cover identification of plants, methods of manual control, along with how to conduct a survey.     Lisa Leon, Lewis County Youth Mentorship Coordinator. CHEHALIS – Lewis County youth are receiving a profound, potentially life-changing gift from others in the community through the Lewis County Youth Mentorship Program. The Lewis County Juvenile Justice Center in Chehalis is where adult volunteers are being trained to best assist young people in conquering a variety of obstacles in their lives.The Lewis County Commissioners earmarked $500,000 of American Rescue Plan Act funds to support a countywide youth mentoring program through 2026.Fourteen volunteer mentors are trained, and have been matched with 20 local youth.     The LeMay Mobile Shredding Truck will be at the Community Recycle Event at the old Solid Waste Drop Box, 1105 Winlock-Vader Road, Winlock, WA 98596, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Customers may bring up to 3 grocery bags or boxes of sensitive documents they would like to have shredded.     The Lewis County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan, is a countywide plan that identifies risks and ways to minimize damage by natural and manmade disasters.
