Diversion
Diversion is an option to deal with a first or a minor offense a youth has committed where they wish to take responsibility for their action and make amends. They do not have to go to court or go before a judge. A meeting would be set up with a probation officer to provide an opportunity for youth to sign a diversion agreement. The diversion agreement can require the juvenile to complete community service, counseling, classes, and/or restitution to name a few. Typically diversion is a one time opportunity, and upon completion, the youth has the opportunity to destroy their …

Hazo Hut can accept used antifreeze from residents today
Lewis County residents can drop off a maximum of five gallons of used motor oil and up to 10 burned out fluorescent lights at Hazo Hut at the transfer station in Centralia, 1411 S. Tower Ave. Unwanted household chemicals, excluding paint and PaintCare items (Please visit PaintCare.org to learn more about PaintCare items and find out where to drop off PaintCare items locally), and up to five gallons of used antifreeze can also be dropped off. This time is reserved for residential customers only. Business customers must make an appointment by calling 360-740-1221.

Tools, Treasures, Treats & Cider!
Plan to attend Tools, Treasures, Treats & Cider, the second day of the Master Recycler Composters of Lewis County's first tool and bake sale to raise money to support the new MRC Tool Bucket Library from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Floral Park Sustainability Park, 103 E. Floral St., Centralia. This second day of the sale will feature a cider press where members of the public are invited to bring their own apples and containers. Open Space Act
RCW 84.34Land owners who wish current use assessment for property tax purposes on lands eligible for classification under the Open Space program, must submit an application to the Lewis County Assessor's Office by December 31st. Applications taken in the calendar year prior to December 31st are inspected in the next year and either approved or denied. If the application is approved, it is taxed in the subsequent year. The Administrative Office of the Courts' (AOC) Equity and Access Program has recently launched Self-Help Washington (SHW) to provide accessible resources to help people without lawyers to navigate Washington Courts. Internship Program
INTERNSHIPS: The Lewis County Coroner's Office does accept students as interns as long as they are enrolled in a college or university that is accredited through the US Department of Education as well as the College for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). This office does not accept applications or inquiries directly from students. Students must go through their school internship or co-operative coordinator to apply for an internship. If a student is attending a school that has not yet established an internship agreement with this office, they are to have a school representative contact this office to set one up. The …

While in custody, services are available to address medical needs. Juvenile Detention is under contract with an on-call physician through Northwest Pediatrics.
